Mom’s battle inspires up a Telangana boy in Rajanna-Sircilla to invent paddy filling machine

13-year-old Marripalli Abhishek hails from Hanumajipet village in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district. He is currently in class VIII in a local Zilla Parisheth High School. His father Laxmirajam went to Dubai around 6 months back in search of job as he was not able to raise cultivation in his small land to improve income.

Marripalli Abhishek, a class VIII student of the native Zilla Parishad High School, received nationwide level prize for constructing a tool which makes filling of paddy in gunny bags simply. It attracted the eye of quite a lot of guests on the National Level Inspire Science Exhibition held at IIT-Delhi on February 14 and 15.

Abhishek was awarded the third prize in addition to Rs 10,000 as money and a laptop computer. Out of 622 displays throughout the county, 60 had been from Telangana. Abhishek, son of a Gulf migrant labourer mentioned that he acquired the idea to develop a filling machine after seeing his mom Rajavva’s battle to fill paddy in gunny bags at Indira Kranthi Patham paddy buying center. Unable to domesticate his small land holding following increase in expenditure, Laxmirajam, father of the boy, migrated to Dubai seeking employment six months in the past.

When he acquired the idea of developing a paddy filling machine, he shared it along with his guide Venkatesham, who helped the boy in giving final shape to his idea.

All that the machine requires is 2 wheels, iron sheet, few iron pipes rods, weighing, stitching machines, and it solely prices around Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000. The machine can do the work of three individuals.

Moreover paddy, the machine will also be used to fill maize and wheat in gunny bags. The boy mentioned that he aims to become an IAS officer.


BK Umarani, headmaster of ZPHS at Hanmajipet, mentioned that they helped the boy to develop the idea when he approached them along with his idea and despatched the concept to Inspire Science Exhibition nicely in advance and prepared the boy for nationwide event after getting approval.

In the meantime, Abhishek had secured first place within the district level event and at the State level in Warnagal.
